Important Notice – State HVACR Licensing
The PHCC Board of Directors agreed to legislation that would extend the deadline for grandfathering the HVACR licensing to September 30, 2007.
Senate Bill 161 was introduced into the General Assembly and would have extended the deadline for another year to June 30, 2008. PHCC felt this was an unwarranted extension and lobbied to not allow any extension. After discussions with the State of Delaware and representatives from the State Plumbing board a compromise of 90 days was reached.
“I want to thank Alex Filippone and Greg Conway for their help in this matter,” said Edward Capodanno, Executive Director of PHCC Delaware. “Alex made phone calls to the Governor’s office to help them understand our position on this legislation and Greg worked with the Board to develop our position with legislators. While we wanted no extension, it became obvious during the process that was not going to happen and this compromise is a win-win situation for everyone.”
Kent/Sussex Plumbing Permit fees approved
The Delaware General Assembly passed House Bill 73, a bill that authorizes the Division of Public Health to assess fees for plumbing permits issued by the Division of Public Health and for plumbing inspections required because plumbing does not comply with the State Plumbing Code or is not ready for inspections at the scheduled time.
The fee for permits will be $100 and $50 for inspections. ABC supported the passage of the legislation due to the money being used to hire more inspectors to conduct more timely and efficient permitting and inspections.
